Wee hours

It is 5 am and I have been awake for an hour. I could use this time to be cleaning, but who wants that. I will just fill you in a little on life here at the Kartchner's.
We spent another Christmas in Utah/Idaho. A few years ago, we vowed to never fly standby again during the holidays, but we are cheap skates and so we chanced it. We were very lucky and made all of the flights we wanted. I think that we will not press our luck again next year.
We were able to spend Christmas morning with my parents in freaking cold, I don't know how people live like that, Idaho. Seriously, I love the snow and all, but I have no desire to go back. Brrr! I guess I love Georgia too much. We spent yesterday at the park in t-shirts.
Jannica got to spend Christmas morning with us, which has never happened before, so that was awesome. The girls had a great Christmas and were very overly spoiled. I am always worried that they do not have enough, so I tend to go overboard and then tell myself that I won't do it again next year.
The girls and I got to go and see the Christmas lights at Temple Square. I love doing that. It is so nice to go and see non-secular Christmas decorations. There was a big tree made out of red and orange lights that Ryan especially loved. She wanted to stop and stare at it for a minute and then started singing "We Wish you a Merry Christmas". It was such a fun moment.
There was a nativity scene in the middle of the reflecting pool and Ryan looked at it for a minute and then said, "Jesus not coming to us" I guess she was expecting it to float. I took it as a great teaching moment, and said "No, we have to come to him" she looked at it for a minute and then said, kinda confused "But, we can't swim in there!" So much for the teaching moment.
Kelly's cousins were nice enough to take us to Temple Square and shower my girls with attention. I am so lucky to have married into this family, they are great!
After Christmas, we braved the super icy roads to visit Kelly's parents and grandparents. It was well worth the trip, and the girls loved seeing everyone. Ryan is still a little confused about the whole great-grandparent thing, but she is pretty easygoing and will sit on any one's lap if they give her a present.
(As a side note for Jen, I stopped at Flaggs West, but Kelly did not want to eat, so I only got a treat. Still, I thought of you while I was there.)
Christmas was such a blast, but, as always, it was nice to get back home and get back to the daily grind.
I am excited for the new year and all it has to offer. My goal is to gain not more than 20 pounds and to be more deserving of my kids.
